Through collective research and dialogue, we identify the issues most pressing to our community and explore how Matahari has the power to effect change. Together, we leverage our collective wisdom and experiences to develop strategic campaigns that address systemic injustices and uplift the voices of domestic workers. Join us as we embark on this journey of advocacy, solidarity, and transformative change. Join Matahari’s Outreach and Healing Justice Committees at the Roxbury Russet Festival! It’s a celebration of Roxbury’s vibrant culture, featuring local vendors, food, music, and community activities.

We’ll be tabling to share incredible news about our partnership with Community Movement Commons (CMC) and the transformative project we’re launching: a community-led birth center in Roxbury, creating a safe, empowering home for local organizations led by women and femmes, with a focus on Black and Brown communities.

This project is about more than a building—it’s about reclaiming our roots, resisting displacement, and building a future where our communities can grow, thrive, and lead. We’ll be gathering petition signatures and inviting Roxbury residents to share their stories in support of the project as we prepare for an important meeting with the Boston Zoning Board. Plus, we’ll share how you can get involved through volunteering, donating, and spreading the word.

These meetings provide an invaluable opportunity for members to hone their strategies for effective outreach tactics and plan activities that bring in new members including phone banking, street outreach, nanny training day, femme workers rising up, new member orientations, and know your rights training. Whether you're a seasoned organizer or just starting your journey, these meetings offer a supportive environment to grow, learn, and make a meaningful impact. Join us in shaping the future of our movement and building a stronger, more inclusive community together.

Matahari Women Workers Center will host several workshops for workers in the domestic and restaurant work industries to learn how to protect their rights and stay healthy and safe at work.
