Matahari at the Roxbury Russet Festival

Join Matahari’s Outreach and Healing Justice Committees at the Roxbury Russet Festival! It’s a celebration of Roxbury’s vibrant culture, featuring local vendors, food, music, and community activities.

We’ll be tabling to share incredible news about our partnership with Community Movement Commons (CMC) and the transformative project we’re launching: a community-led birth center in Roxbury, creating a safe, empowering home for local organizations led by women and femmes, with a focus on Black and Brown communities.

This project is about more than a building—it’s about reclaiming our roots, resisting displacement, and building a future where our communities can grow, thrive, and lead. We’ll be gathering petition signatures and inviting Roxbury residents to share their stories in support of the project as we prepare for an important meeting with the Boston Zoning Board. Plus, we’ll share how you can get involved through volunteering, donating, and spreading the word.

Festival Details:

  • Date: October 26

  • Time: 12-4pm

  • Location: 33 Shirley Street Boston, MA 02119

Come join us to learn more about this exciting work and help us build a future that honors our past, our people, and our purpose!
